Demi Lovato Shows Support For Transgender Community On Stage

Demi Lovato showed her support for the transgender community during the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday night.

The 23-year-old singer wore shirt with a symbol of a gender-neutral bathroom emblazoned on it when she performed on stage.

In April, Lovato and Nick Jonas canceled two of their upcoming concerts in North Carolina over the state’s new “bathroom law.”

“One of our goals for the tour has always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included, and accepted for who they are,” the statement read. (RELATED: Demi Lovato And Nick Jonas Cancel Concerts In North Carolina Over ‘Bathroom Law’)

“North Carolina’s discriminatory HB2 law is extremely disappointing and it takes away some of the LGBT’s community’s most basic rights and protections.”

The state recently passed a law that requires individuals to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
