Shaun White Sued For Sexual Harassment By Bandmate

Two-time Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White is being accused of sexually harassing former drummer and bandmate Lena Zawaideh over several years.

According to the New York Post, Zawaideh alleges that White sent her images of male genitals, forced her to watch disturbing videos that included “sexualized fecal matter” and made several sexual remarks to her.

Zawaideh also claims that White once stuck his hands down his pants and tried to make her smell them.

Zawaideh joined White’s band Bad Things when it formed in 2008 and remained with them until she was fired in 2014. Over that time, she also claims that White did not pay her wages, attempted to force a revealing wardrobe on her, prevented her from wearing red lipstick and eventually fired her for not agreeing to a hair cut.

“I am pursuing this case because women should not have to tolerate harassment at work. Shaun White should not be allowed to do whatever he wants just because he is famous. Although I am embarrassed to have been treated this way, I cannot sit by and watch him do this to other women,” she said in a statement.

TMZ released some of the text messages between the two earlier this week, which appear to support some of Zawaideh’s accusations. White has since confirmed that the texts are from him, but called the lawsuit “bogus.”

“Many years ago, I exchanged texts with a friend who is now using them to craft a bogus lawsuit,” he said. “There is absolutely no coincidence to the timing of her claims, and we will defend them vigorously in court.”
