Bill Cosby’s Lawyers Claim His Blindness Will Prevent A Fair Trial In Sexual Assault Case
Bill Cosby’s lawyers are arguing the comedian’s blindness will prevent him from having a fair trial against the dozens of sexual assault charges he’s facing.
Cosby appeared in court Wednesday where his attorney, Angela Agrusa, claimed “He is physically impaired,” and “cannot see,” the Los Angeles Times reports. (RELATED: Bill Cosby Pulls Out The Race Card In Sexual Assault Case)
Cosby’s legal team argued that their client’s vision will limit his right to a fair trial. “We can’t test his memory, because he can’t see,” Agrusa continued. And, because of his disability, Coby’s lawyers claim he won’t be able to “counter evidence against him,” according to the Times.
Cosby’s lawyers have previously argued that he was being victimized with racial bias in his case. They attacked Gloria Allred, who is representing some of the women who have accused Cosby, claiming her case against him “builds on racial bias and prejudice that can pollute the court of public opinion.”
Cosby and his team continue to maintain his innocence against the dozens of women who have accused the comedian of assault. His trial date is set for no later than June 5, 2017.
