Memphis Coach Accidentally Calls Frat Bro Instead Of Football Star, Leaves Great Sales Pitch

David Hookstead | Reporter

Memphis offensive coordinator Chip Long apparently made a big mistake when attempting to recruit former Tennessee football star Jalen Hurd.

Hurd recently announced that he was transferring from the Vols, which naturally opened up the flood gates for coaches around America.

Unfortunately for Long he didn’t have the right phone number when he called Hurd. Instead of leaving a message for the star running back he called Tennessee frat bro Davis Dye, according to the sports website Outkick the Coverage(SLIDESHOW: 12 TIMES SPORTS PUNDIT KRISTINE LEAHY LOOKED ABSOLUTELY STUNNING)

There are a couple of options for Dye here. The most obvious and best one is to just call back and commit on the spot without actually saying he’s Jalen Hurd. Memphis football fans go wild and the sports world descends into chaos.

The other option is to just ignore it. Probably the smarter option, but also much more boring. Long did commit to running the I-formation immediately with Hurd so perhaps he will hear about this voicemail and decide to pull the trigger and commit anyways.
