The actor was on stage to accept the Hollywood Comedy Award at the Hollywood Film Awards for his work in “The Comedian” on Sunday night when his speech quickly turned political.

“We are two days from a frightening election,” De Niro told the audience. “The shadow of politics is hanging over us whether we like it or not. It’s hard for me to think about anything else.”

“Let me just lay it out right here,” he continued. “We have the opportunity to keep a comedy from turning into a tragedy. Vote for Hillary Tuesday.” (RELATED: Robert De Niro On Donald Trump: ‘I’d Like To Punch Him In The Face’)

De Niro has knocked the Republican nominee several times in the past weeks.

“I mean he’s so blatantly stupid,” De Niro said in a video where he encouraged people to vote. “He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a pig, he’s a con, a bullshit artist, a mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care, thinks he’s gaming society, doesn’t pay his taxes.”

“He’s an idiot.” (RELATED: Robert De Niro Doubles Down On His Attacks Against Donald Trump)
