Along with an image of Swift wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, the website LifeEventWeb published a piece stating that the singer “shocked the country” when she voted for Trump in the presidential election.

Despite being widely shared by many on social media as fact, the story is full of inaccuracies and is not true.

The story even includes fake quotes from Swift.

“Republicans do it better,” the story claims Swift said on her MySpace page. “We need more and more jobs. Unemployment is way up here. He’s hired more employees, more people, than anyone I know in the world.”

However, as Gizmodo pointed out Wednesday, that is a quote that was attributed to Denzel Washington and has also been proven false by Snopes.

Though Swift has not revealed who she voted for in this election, she did post a photo of her in line at a polling place on Instagram.
