Actor Matthew McConaughey is taking a stand for Texas football coach Charlie Strong.

Strong has been on the hot seat for most of his tenure with the Longhorns, and will almost certainly get fired. However, McConaughey is one of the many coming to his aid. (SLIDESHOW: 13 Times Lindsey Vonn Proved She’s One Of The Hottest Women Alive)

“For his entire three years he’s had one goal in mind: what’s best for these young men. That’s been his goal. And that’s the message we’ll take forward. That’s the message the whole university and all our fans and all the kids are going to take forward. No doubt for three years he’s been about what’s best for these young and and who they are for the rest of their lives. That’s going to be the legacy of Charlie Strong and that’s a great thing. That’s why we’re going to go out and whip TCU’s ass,” McConaughey told Fox 7 Austin. (SLIDESHOW: 13 Times Paulina Gretzky Looked Absolutely Incredible)

The legendary actor has become a regular fixture of Texas athletics. He has spoken to the team several times before big games. (SLIDESHOW: 12 TIMES SPORTS PUNDIT KRISTINE LEAHY LOOKED ABSOLUTELY STUNNING)

McConaughey might be one of the most famous men on the planet, but even his influence likely won’t be enough to save Strong’s job.
