Kelly Ripa: Search For ‘Live’ Co-Host Has Taken Another Turn
Kelly Ripa says as of now viewers should expect to see more guest co-hosts on “Live with Kelly” as the list for co-host has grown longer than they ever planned.
The 46-year-old talk show host appeared on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” Wednesday night with former guest co-host Anderson Cooper. During her appearance she responded to a caller’s question about if they were any closer to narrowing down their search for a replacement for Michael Strahan, according to E! News. Strahan announced in April he was leaving for a full-time position on Good Morning America in the fall. (RELATED: Kelly Ripa Might Have Already Found Her Next Co-Host For ‘Live’)
“We really didn’t set a time frame for ourselves,” Ripa responded. “We just wanted to wait until we found the right person. What we didn’t anticipate was that we would have such an outpouring of interest, so our list got very long very quickly. We’ve been trying to keep it as narrow as possible, but then people pop up.”
“We’ve had a great time,” Kelly added. “I have to say, I feel really lucky and really embarrassed at our good fortune. It’s a fun job to begin with.” (RELATED: Michael Strahan Said He And Kelly Ripa Are No Longer Friends)
Ripa all but admitted that had Cooper not re-signed his contract with CNN he was her number one pick when Cohen said, “Anderson re-signed with CNN, but he would have been your No. 1 pick, right Kelly?”
“He’s my life,” Ripa explained. “He really is. He’s the one that got away and keeps getting away and gets away all the time.”
Cooper and the host of the Bravo show Andy Cohen have appeared alongside Ripa, along with a long list of other celebrities including Christian Slater, Michael Buble, Josh Groban and even her husband Mark Consuelos.
The host of Live also shot down rumors of the show relocating to the west coast.
