Joe McKnight Shooter Arrested On Charges Of Manslaughter
The man who shot and killed former NFL running back Joe McKnight has been arrested on charges of manslaughter.
Ronald Gasser, who admitted to shooting McKnight three times was charged with manslaughter on Monday according to police records obtained by TMZ. Gasser is being held on no bond.
Ballistic evidence and autopsy results contradicted a witness report that claimed Gasser fired the shots into McKnight while standing over him, according to The Times-Picayune.
According to officials, McKnight and Gasser were arguing in an apparent road rage incident before Gasser fired shots at McKnight. Gasser was in the drivers seat of his own car when he shot McKnight who was arguing with him from the passenger window.
Authorities still have not figured out what led to the incident and the subsequent shooting, but the investigation is still ongoing.
McKnight was a standout running back at the University of Southern California and went on to play in the NFL for the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs.
