Russell Crowe Free Of Charges In Alleged Assault Case
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office determined Wednesday that Russell Crowe’s actions in a October hotel incident weren’t grounds for pressing charges against the “Gladiator” actor, TMZ reports. (RELATED: Russell Crowe Forcibly Removes Azealia Banks From Hotel Party)
Crowe hosted a dinner party at a Beverly Hills hotel suite which turned into a nightmare when Azealia Banks, who accompanied rapper RZA to the party, went ballistic. Banks began arguing with Crowe in front of his guests and then threatened to cut several of them with a broken glass.
Crowe remained calm throughout Banks’ threats until she grabbed her glass and cocked it back as if she was about to use it as a weapon. He then grabbed Banks “in a bear hug and carried her out of the suite,” and called hotel security who removed her from the property, TMZ reported.
Banks claimed Crowe choked and assaulted her when he threw her out of the party, but several witnesses said it was Banks who was out of line.
The L.A. County D.A.’s Office apparently agrees. The D.A. determined that Crowe’s actions were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks,” and he would not be charged.
