Houston athletic director Hunter Yurachek tweeted out a picture of the Vatican prior to hiring a new head football coach.

When the team was expected to hire Lane Kiffin, Yurachek tweeted a picture of the Vatican conclave billowing black smoke, the way the Catholic church picks a new Pope, indicating the decision had not yet been made, despite media reports Thursday night. (SLIDESHOW: This Supermodel Might Be The Sexiest NFL Girlfriend)

The team shocked everybody when they selected their own offensive coordinator Major Applewhite Friday morning. Yurachek tweeted out a picture of the conclave again, this time with red smoke indicating a decision had been officially made. Picking a new football coach isn’t nearly as important as one of the world’s most influential leaders, but still a pretty neat way to announce the end to a coaching search.
