Fashion Designer Criticized For Dressing Melania Trump Fires Back Hard
Fashion designer Stefano Gabbana has taken on a lot of criticism for dressing future first lady Melania Trump.
Most recently, the Dolce & Gabbana designer dressed Melania in a stunning black dress for New Years Eve. When Gabbana posted a picture thanking her for wearing the dress, critics went insane, Page Six reports.
The post has received more than 1,400 comments since Gabanna posted it to Instagram on New Year’s Day.
One commenter brought Gabbana’s sexuality into the conversation when criticizing the designer for dressing the future first lady. “Sad when a gay designer doesn’t care about other groups being repressed.”
Gabbana fired back hard at all his “ignorant critics,” and added “Don’t cal me gay please!! Im a man!!! Who I love its my private life!!!”
The fashion industry giants have split on whether or not they will dress Melania Trump now that her husband is set to be the United States next president.
Both Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs have decided they won’t dress the next first lady, according to Page Six. Dolce & Gabana, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein are all in favor of Melania wearing their designs as is the chair of the Council of Fashion Designers of America Diane Von Furstenberg.
“Melania deserves the respect of any First Lady before her,” Furstenberg said. “Our role as part of the fashion industry is to promote beauty, inclusiveness, diversity. We should each be the best we can be and influence by our example.”
