The show’s inaugural season “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” based on author Jeffrey Toobin’s “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” was hugely successful and won 10 Emmy Awards. Producer Ryan Murphy hopes to turn to another Toobin book to explore the sex scandal between the former president and his White House intern, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Seasons two and three of “American Crime Story” are already in production, but producers of the show have already optioned Toobin’s best-selling book “A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down A President” as source material for a season, THR reports.

Murphy and the other producers are reportedly “fast-tracking the drama” and have already begun meeting with actresses to portray both Lewinsky and her colleague Linda Tripp, who secretly recorded Lewinsky revealing intimate details of her affair with then-President Clinton.

Toobin’s book is considered to be “a definitive history” of the Lewinsky scandal that put a permanent stain on Clinton’s administration in American political history. No time frame or confirmation has been announced for the “American Crime Story” season, but it’s clear the producers are determined to make it happen.
