Republican Sen. John McCain has some high praise for Peyton Manning when asked about the former NFL quarterback’s potential political career.

Quarterback Peyton Manning addresses the media as he announces his retirement from the NFL at the UCHealth Training Center on March 7, 2016 in Englewood, Colorado. Manning, who played for both the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos in a career which spanned 18 years, is the NFL's all-time leader in passing touchdowns (539), passing yards (71,940) and tied for regular season QB wins (186). Manning played his final game last month as the winning quarterback in Super Bowl 50 in which the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, earning Manning his second Super Bowl title. The recently retired gunslinger who won a Super Bowl just a year ago is reportedly entertaining a possible run for senator of Tennessee in 2020. Sen. McCain had nothing but good things to say about Manning when TMZ caught up with him in Washington, D.C. over the weekend.

“He’s a national hero,” Sen. McCain said of the former Denver Bronco. “I can’t think of a finer example¬†of an American who has inspired so many young people.”

It sounds like Peyton has an endorsement waiting for him from the Arizona senator if he follows through with his political run.
