The “Patriots Day” star attended the game at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas with his wife and two of his four children. In a video captured by someone in the stadium, Wahlberg can be seen leaving the game with his wife and two boys before his team mounted the thrilling comeback.

After receiving some criticism online, with many calling the actor a “fair weather fan,” Wahlberg explained the reason he had to leave in an Instagram post.

“I had to leave the game early because my youngest son wasn’t feeling well,” Wahlberg began. “Trust me, I would have loved to be at the stadium–but family first. Doesn’t mean I don’t love my Patriots too!”
