The Flapper: Did This Falcons Fan Jinx His Team Out Of A Super Bowl Win?
The Daily Caller has identified the Atlanta Falcons fan whose behavior may be responsible for the bad karma that turned the tide in the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.
The Falcons fan, who sported a foam finger that he used to taunt surrounding New England Patriots fan, may have been the most obnoxious person in attendance at NRG Stadium for Super Bowl LI in Houston on Sunday.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Falcons offense began firing on all cylinders, securing a commanding 21-3 lead at halftime. As Atlanta began to pull away though, the Falcons fan became more and more obnoxious, a witness told TheDC.
The Atlanta fan began poking surrounding Patriots fans in the face with his foam finger in celebration and only acted more belligerent as the Falcons continued to score.
When Atlanta reached what would be their largest lead of the game, up 28-3 in the third quarter, the Falcons fan went absolutely berserk. The man started twerking up against other attendants, purposely kept banging the leg of the nearest Pats fan and began waving his arms in a flying motion, purposely blocking surrounding fans’ view of the field as they tried to watch the game.
When the other fans attempted to calm the man down he began shouting at them. “What are you going to do about it?” the man shouted, before telling another person, “I could kill you with one arm,” a witness revealed to TheDC.
Tom Brady and the Patriots then went on a 25-0 run in the third and fourth quarters to tie the game at the end of regulation. New England won the coin toss and marched down the field ending the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history with a game-winning touchdown run.
Much to the delight of the fans around him, the gloating Falcons fan just sat down in his seat in silence.
If Atlanta fans can blame anyone besides Tom Brady’s late game heroics and James White’s running for their historic loss, it may be this unnamed Atlanta fan who took premature gloating to unprecedented levels. The man who was so arrogant and annoying with too much time on the clock later sat down, defeated, with his foam finger removed as the New England Patriots hoisted their fifth Lombardi Trophy.
