Madonna confirmed that she adopted twin girls from Malawi Wednesday.

The 58-year-old singer broke the news on Instagram with a lengthy post and a photo of the two girls, who are reportedly four-years-old, walking beside her along a dirt path. (RELATED: Madonna: ‘I’ve Thought About Blowing Up The White House’)

“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” Madonna wrote next to the post. “I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time. Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and Love! (RELATED: Report: Madonna Has Adopted Twin Girls From Malawi)

On Tuesday, the AFP reported that a judge had accepted the singer’s request to adopt the twins.

“I can confirm that Madonna has been granted an adoption order for two children,” judicial spokesman Mlenga Mvula said.

Two weeks ago, Madonna called reports that she was in the country for an adoption “untrue.”

“I am in Malawi to check on the children’s hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi and then heading home,” Madonna said in a statement. “The rumors of an adoption process are untrue.”

The pop singer now has six children, four adopted from the African country and two who are biological.
