Trump’s Hollywood Star Vandal Gets No Jail Time

The man accused of vandalizing President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will not serve jail time as part of a plea bargain.

On Tuesday, James Otis reached a plea deal after he pled no contest to charges of vandalism for smashing Trump’s star, according to TMZ. He was placed on three years probation and was ordered to pay the cost of repairing the damaged star and replacing parts of it. (RELATED: Trump Launches Search For Homeless Woman Who Protected Trump Hollywood Star)

The area, which includes the walk, is maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. As part of the plea bargain, Otis agreed to pay the group and the Hollywood Historic Trust $4,400, most likely the cost to repair and replace the star. (RELATED: Trump’s Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame To Get Presidential Protection)

He must also do twenty days of work for Caltrans, which usually involves picking up trash along the freeways.

Otis was accused of taking a sledgehammer to Trump’s star in October to protest the election.

After the attack, Otis confessed in a video that he destroyed the star to bring attention to sexual assault in America following allegations by several women against Trump over misconduct.

Following the election, TMZ reported that  Trump’s star would get presidential protection from police officers.
