The Oscars Tried To Appeal To Everyday Americans, And It Completely Blew Up In Their Face
Jimmy Kimmel thought it was a great idea to bring regular people into the Dolby Theatre during the Academy Awards Sunday night to show them how the other half lives.
The Oscars host ushered in a group of tourists who were on a tour of Hollywood and paraded them around in front of celebrities who were sitting in the first few rows.
Viewers watching at home immediately saw it for what it really was.
I thought it was nice of Hollywood to let the poors touch them and look around inside their party.

Jimmy tried to one up Ellen by bringing in more than one regular person to meet famous people. This was just more annoying. #oscars

Didn't enjoy the "let's bring in regular people so all us rich people can make fun of them" bit. Why was that decision made? #Oscars

These tourists visiting the #Oscars is the most cringe worthy thing ever.

hey, come on in you nobodies and meet the famous people!

Well that was humiliating. Parade the nobodies in front of the somebodies…#Oscars

Hollywood does a lot of things well but relating to "regular" people is always ultimately cringe-worthy snark

Let's bring in the "regular" people for the elites enjoyment. It was cute, but let's you know how they feel about us.

Jimmy Kimmel: Hey wouldn't it be awesome if we had a Normal People Parade at the Oscars to showcase how special we are and normal they are!
— Rennie (@rennpasq) February 27, 2017
"Haha your name isnt normal"
Kimmel do you have ANY OTHER BIT than making fun of people???
— Ryan Tatum (@NoWayRyanTatum) February 27, 2017
Once again, Jimmy Kimmel can't hide his contempt for normal people. Adorable!
