Arnold Schwarzenegger said he thinks that President Donald Trump is in love with him, after Trump tweeted the actor was fired as host of the “New Celebrity Apprentice” for “bad (pathetic) ratings.”

The 69-year-old former governor of California made the bizarre comment Tuesday during his appearance on “The Michael Smerconish” Sirius XM radio show, according to the Washington Examiner. The action hero and the president have been engaged in a feud ever since Trump asked for prayers for the new host to improve the ratings of his former reality show. (RELATED: Trump Slams Arnold After Leaving ‘Celebrity Apprentice’: You Were ‘Fired’)

“I think he’s in love with me,” Schwarzenegger said of the attention he has continually received from Trump. “Yeah, I think so.”

During an interview with Empire last Friday, the actor explained that his leaving was a direct result of the show being unable to garner support from sponsors and viewers because of the Trump’s connection to the show.

“I learned a lot, I had a great time, it was a really great opportunity,” Schwarzenegger said. “But under the circumstances I don’t want to do it again. It’s not about the show.”

“When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people started boycotting it,” he added. “Even if asked, I would decline. With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show.”
