Scarlett Johansson Is Getting Divorced And That’s Probably The Last You’ll Hear About It
Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce against her estranged husband Romain Dauriac in Manhattan on Tuesday, but that’s probably the last you will hear about the details behind their split.
Johansson and Dauriac have a two-year-old daughter, and it is for her sake that Johansson plans to keep the details of their divorce and custody battle completely private.
The “Avengers” actress said that as a “devoted mother and private person” with “complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself” in the press, she hopes to keep all divorce and custody proceedings away from the media.
“I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage,” she said in a statement to Page Six. “Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same.”
Johansson and the French journalist got married in 2014 shortly after their daughter, Rose was born. The couple split last summer, and Rose has spent every other week with either of them since then. Johansson is seeking primary custody, but Dauriac’s attorney’s are arguing it should be granted to him because Johansson’s schedule would be too intense for the two-year-old.
Dauriac’s attorney, Harold Mayerson, said that his client wants Johansson “to be involved with her daughter, desperately, but you can’t have schedules switching all the time.” Dauriac would prefer to move to France with his daughter, where he could provide a steady environment for her.
This is Johansson’s second failed marriage. The “Hail, Caesar!” star was previously married to fellow actor Ryan Reynolds.
