The series will be based on an upcoming book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. The two men wrote the 2010 New York Times bestseller “Game Change” about the 2008 election, a book that was turned into a HBO film that starred Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin.

Hanks recently sent the White House press corps a new coffee machine along with a note telling them to “keep up the fight for truth.”On the note was an illustration of American troops with a message underneath that read, “Fresh, spirited, American troops flushed with victory and bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle weary, prisoners.”

“To the White House Press Corps. Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially for the Truth Part,” Hanks’ note read.

There is no word yet on when the book or mini-series will be released.
