Kathy Bates Answers If She Will Play Trump On ‘American Horror Story’
Kathy Bates responded to rumors on Wednesday about whether she planned to do an impersonation of President Donald Trump on “American Horror Story.”
“Oh, my lord … I doubt that would happen, I really do,” the 68-year-old actress said when asked if there were plans in the works for her to play Trump on the FX show next season, according to the Hill. She added that she thinks Alec Baldwin has already cornered the market on that job. (RELATED: Alec Baldwin Hints He Might Play Trump At WHCD)
“I know Ryan Murphy is doing something about the election,” Bates said. “You know, my eyes popped open when he said that. No. I don’t think I’ll be playing Donald Trump.” (RELATED: Rosie O’Donnell Calls For Trump To Be Arrested)
“You know, I’m going to leave that to Alec Baldwin,” she added. ” I think he’s doing a smash job.”
Her comment comes after the producer of the show, Ryan Murphy, said last month that next season the anthology season would be based on the 2016 race for the White House.
Baldwin’s impersonations of Trump on “Saturday Night Live” have led to huge ratings for the show. According to The Huffington Post, the late-night sketch comedy show has experienced a ratings spike. The show hasn’t seen numbers like the current season since the 1994-1995 season.
