Nelson participated in an interview for a People and ABC special looking back on the lives of several legendary celebrities, including Whitney Houston, Robin Williams and her late brother. During the interview she revealed that the singer, whose real name was Prince Rogers Nelson, predicted a few years beforehand that his death was coming soon.

“About three years ago he called,” Nelson reflected. “He said, ‘I think I’ve done everything I’ve come to do.'”

“My dad and Prince always spoke in these types of riddles,” the music icon’s sister said. “He knew [he was going to die soon]. And he was preparing me. It’s very clear.”

Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park residence on April 21, 2016. It was later discovered that the legendary musician had overdosed on a highly addictive opioid called fentanyl.

“The last day I saw him, we were making jokes,” Nelson recalled. “We hugged three times.”

Nelson said that she was “in denial” of her brother’s death for several months, but has finally gotten through it and encouraged his fans to do the same.

“He needed to go. He was tired,” Nelson said. “Instead of crying, dance. He didn’t like me to cry, so I don’t want them to cry either.”
