Mischa Barton Opens Up About Her Emotional Abuse After Her Sex Tape Surfaced
Mischa Barton recently took legal action over a sex tape of her that was filmed without her knowledge and is now being shopped around to the highest bidder.
In an interview with Dr. Phil obtained exclusively by TMZ, the actress opened up about the tape and the emotional abuse she’s suffered since she found out about it.
Barton found out about the tape from somebody on the street who approached her. “And I didn’t believe it at first,” she told Dr. Phil. “I couldn’t believe it because I loved this person and I didn’t believe it was possible, and later I learned that it was entirely possible.”
The “O.C.” star referred to the situation as “emotional blackmail.”
“It was one of those things where I need to distance myself from all of these people immediately, because there’s not much you can do — it’s really out of your hands, and it was a crime. It is a serious crime to tape people without their knowledge like that,” she said.
“I just removed myself from it as quickly as I could and then it just continued to be complete emotional abuse after that, for like the last several, several months,” Barton added.
Jon Zacharias was identified as the man in the tape, according to court documents filed by Barton and her attorney earlier this month. The documents, reported by the Daily Mail, showed that Barton issued a restraining order against him and another man named Adam Shaw who the actress also dated at one time.
The court documents were meant to prevent both men from attempting to sell or distribute the tape, which is reportedly being shopped around for up to $500,000.
