Beyonce Is Reportedly The Top Choice To Star In This Upcoming Movie
Disney is starting to get things in motion for the upcoming “Lion King” reboot, and Beyoncé is reportedly its top choice to voice the Nala character.
Donald Glover has already been selected to be the voice of Simba, and James Earl Jones is reportedly returning to his role as Mufasa, as he did in the original Disney animation, Variety reported exclusively. Jon Favreau will serve as director for the live-action remake of the classic film, and he is hoping to convince Beyoncé to join the cast.
The “Lemonade” singer, who is currently pregnant with twins, is reportedly weighing the decision now. Disney and Favreau are apparently ready to accommodate her in every way they can if they can bring her on for the voice-acting role.
Beyoncé announced her pregnancy in February and performed at the Grammy’s just a few weeks later. She has since backed out of performing at Coachella where she was scheduled to be a headliner in April.
The original “Lion King” was released in 1994 and eventually became one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time raking in $968.5 million worldwide, according to Variety.
Disney has had tremendous success remaking a handful of their classic films — the most recent being “Beauty and the Beast,” which has been crushing the box office for the past few weeks.
