Comedy Central Announces A New Show Inspired By Trump
Comedy Central announced on Monday that they will air a weekly talk show inspired by President Donald Trump.
The show titled, “The President Show” works off the premise of Trump getting around the fake media outlets by hosting his own talk show from the Oval Office, according to The Hill. The president will be played by Trump impersonator Anthony Atamanuik. (RELATED: Media Bubble Horrified As ‘SNL’ Turns Jake Tapper’s Relationship With Kellyanne Conway Into A Violent, Sexual Mess)
“Laughing at the President is a proud American tradition and we hope not to disappoint anyone in that department,” Atamanuik said. “But our political system is too broken for us to be content joking about one man, even though he is a disastrous silly little toddler boy. Mostly I’d just like to thank Comedy Central for giving us this platform to speak truth to power and if we’re lucky, end up in prison!” (RELATED: Mocking Trump Gives ‘SNL’ Highest Ratings In 22 Years)
The comedian will be joined by Vice President Mike Pence, played by Peter Grosz.
Mocking the president has proved very beneficial for the NBC show, “Saturday Night Live.” During the current season, the show has seen a spike in ratings as actor Alec Baldwin plays the president along with Melissa McCarthy playing Press Secretary Sean Spicer. The show’s ratings have gone up over twenty-two percent over the last year, giving the network number like they haven’t seen in the last twenty-two years.
The Comedy Central show premiers April 27 at 11:30 p.m. eastern time.
