Sergio García won his first major of his professional golfing career when he closed out the Masters with a thrilling playoff victory against Justin Rose Sunday.

García has had his fair share of heartbreaks chasing major championships, and his fans have been with him all along. But finally at the age of 37 the Spaniard has won his first, and the roars from the gallery were all for him.

For the folks watching at home, it was easy to see one particular fan’s elation when Sergio’s final putt disappeared into the hole though — his fiancée Angela Akins.

As Sergio fell to his knees in celebration, he glanced toward Akins who had just done the same. Both of them were overcome with the emotion, and the weight was lifted after García’s critics had doubted he could ever win one of the big ones.

With golf fans focused on García throughout his impressive week at Augusta National, the cameras often found Akins in the crowd and followed her down to the last second when they captured the couple’s tandem celebration.

Now with his first major championship under his belt and a wedding to look forward too in July, Sergio has plenty to celebrate.
