Julia Louis-Dreyfus met Mitt Romney and revealed the what he told her that they decided to use on her show “Veep” for the sixth season.

During her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday, the 56-year-old actress talked about meeting the former Republican presidential nominee who she said was a “huge fan”of the show and shared that it was his thoughts about losing that they used in the upcoming season for her character Selina Meyer, who lost the presidency at the end of the last season. (RELATED: White House Reporter Releases A ‘Holocaust’ Pool Report)

“We actually had the privilege of spending time [with the Romneys],” Louis- Dreyfus explained. “They came and talked to us at great length. It was really useful [to speak with Romney] because we really wanted to talk to him about what it’s like to lose.”  (RELATED: Julia Louis-Dreyfus Apologizes For Trump At Emmys)

“The thing about Mitt Romney, I should say, is that he is very dedicated to his family and he has a life well beyond politics, which of course Selina Meyer does not,” she added. “He said a lot of really interesting things. Including, I asked him about that ’47 percent’ moment… I was asking him about how did that happen, how did he recover, and he said, ‘The truth is when you’re running, if you’re explaining, you’re losing.'”

“And I thought oh that was such a great expression,” she continued. “Anyway, we put it in the show.”
