The former New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer was found hanging from a bed sheet in his Massachusetts prison cell early Wednesday morning. (RELATED: Aaron Hernandez Officially Not Guilty Of Initial Murder Charge Following Suicide)

Jenkins, who is the mother of Hernandez’s 4-year-old daughter, is suing the Department of Corrections to preserve any evidence that might prove he didn’t hang himself, according to TMZ Sports.

The former NFL star’s fiancée is worried that evidence of his death might be tampered with, given the popular assumption that he took his own life. Jenkins filed court documents on Wednesday asking a superior court judge “to prevent state officials from destroying video recordings, physical evidence and prison records connected to Hernandez,” TMZ reports.

Hernandez’s attorney, Jose Baez, also suggested that Hernandez didn’t kill himself, but was murdered.

When Hernandez was found dead in his cell, prison officials noticed he attempted to block the door. Several suicide notes were also found in his cell during the investigation.

The judge will hear the case on Friday, according to TMZ.
