Serena Williams Won The Australian Open While Eight Weeks Pregnant
A spokesperson for Serena Williams has confirmed that the female tennis superstar is pregnant and has been since before she won the 2017 Australian Open in January.
Williams revealed the news with a photo she posted of herself on Snapchat with the caption “20 weeks.” Serena promptly deleted the post but her spokeswoman, Kelly Bush Novak, later confirmed the news.
“I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this Fall,” Novak wrote in an email to The Associated Press.
In late December, Williams announced she was engaged to be married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

If the 20-week mark that Serena initially announced on her Snapchat photo is accurate, that would mean that she beat her sister Venus in the Australian Open championship at eight weeks pregnant. That probably made the 35-year-old tennis star’s 23rd Grand Slam title one to remember.
Williams is expected to be out for the remainder of 2017 and won’t return to competition until the 2018 season. Her fellow tennis player’s are probably thrilled to have a better shot at some titles of their own now that she has to take some time away from the court.
