Serena Williams Revealed Her Pregnancy On Snapchat By Accident
Serena Williams revealed that she’s pregnant by posting a photo to her Snapchat last week, but the tennis star says it was a complete accident.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion said she was taking a personal photo of her baby bump on the social media app when she accidentally pressed the wrong button, sharing the post with all of her followers. Williams quickly deleted the snap, but not before fans screenshotted the post and spread it around social media, breaking the news around the world.
Serena’s publicist, Kelly Bush Novak, later confirmed the news to The Associated Press, saying “I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this Fall.”

Although many probably expected it, Williams told Gayle King at the TED2017 Conference Tuesday night that she didn’t mean to share the photo with the world, Page Six reports. However, it wasn’t a big deal because Serena planned to announce the news soon anyway. (RELATED: Serena Williams Won The Australian Open While Eight Weeks Pregnant)
The current world No. 1-ranked women’s tennis player will be taking the rest of the 2017 season off for the baby. Her fellow competitors are probably happy she’ll be away from the court for a little while, but Serena has said she won’t be gone long and her baby’s coming back with her.
“My baby is going to be in the stands,” she said, “hopefully cheering for me and not crying too much.”
