Megyn Kelly will take over the 9 a.m. hour on NBC News when she debuts her daytime show this September, a new report claims.

An NBC News spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter Monday the former Fox News host will take over the hour that currently belongs to the “Today” show. The current staff on the 9 a.m. hour of Today will make up most of Kelly’s staff.

“[Kelly] is tough and fair; there’s a place for that [on morning TV],” NBC News president Noah Oppenheim said. “We’re not giving enough credit to the morning audience to think that they don’t want those things. Her background is as an attorney, she’s a mom of three, and she has had a lot of experiences that will be relatable to a huge cross-section of the audience in the morning.”

NBC did not reveal whether Kelly’s show will be a continued part of the “Today” show or its separate program. The third hour that is hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb will likely remain at 10 a.m.
