Miley Cyrus Admits Her Wild Antics May Not Have Convinced Trump Fans To Vote Hillary
Miley Cyrus admitted that her attention-grabbing antics during the 2016 campaign may not have convinced Americans to vote for Hillary Clinton.
“I like talking to people that don’t agree with me, but I don’t think I can do that in an aggressive way,” the 24-year-old singer said during an interview published Wednesday in Billboard magazine. “I don’t think those people are going to listen to me when I’m sitting there in nipple pasties, you know?” (RELATED: Cyrus: Bernie Sanders Supporters Who Don’t Vote For Clinton Are ‘F***ing Crazy’)
“I like the way I think right now,” she added. “But don’t Trump supporters like the way they think? So I’ve also got to be open with the way I approach people with my opinions. That’s the only way to make real change. And it’s not because I want to sell records! I know now the ways that don’t work.” (Miley Cyrus and 8 Other Celebrities Threatening To Leave The Country If Donald Trump Gets Elected)
“Because I went really hard during the election,” she continued. “But at the end of the day, we lost. We won, but because the system is fucked up, we lost. I thought, ‘OK. I learned my lesson on this one.'”
She had promised to leave the country if Trump won. She has since broken that promise.
“The first thing I got on my Instagram when I posted that was people saying, ‘You said you were going to move. When are you going to move,'” Cyrus explained. “It’s not time for me to leave now, dude. I’ve got to be here. I’ve got to glue this place back together, because I’m from Tennessee — that state [went to] Donald Trump.”
During the election, the singer shared numerous posts on Instagram slamming Trump, including a picture of her backside telling his supporters they could “kiss her ass.”
She spoke in support of Clinton at George Mason University in Virginia, wearing a giant bow and going door-to-door in the dorms in an effort to try and turn out the vote.
