Many congratulated the 51-year-old golfer on his first win since 2004. One of the most notable people to congratulate the big hitter was President Donald Trump, who called him “a great guy who never gave up” in a Monday morning tweet.

The two appear to have a mutual admiration for one another. “Thank you Mr. President & also doing such a great job for our country! Means a lot!” Daly tweeted in response.

Daly finished his final round with three straight bogeys, but held on to win his first PGA Tour Champions title by just one stroke.

“It wasn’t pretty at the end,” Daly said. “But I got it done and that’s all that matters.”
