Did Matt Harvey’s Breakup With Adriana Lima Lead To Cinco De Mayo Collapse?
New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey just finished serving a three-day suspension for failing to show up for their game against the Miami Marlins on Saturday, but the details are still spilling out.
Initially Harvey claimed that he had a migraine and physically couldn’t make it to Citi Field even though he wasn’t expected to pitch in the game. On Tuesday, Harvey apologized for not showing up and admitted that he was out drinking “past curfew” on the night before the game and said he was “embarrassed” by his actions.
Now sources are casting some more light on Harvey’s wild night out which might have been triggered by his recent breakup with Adriana Lima. (RELATED: ‘Embarrassed’ New York Mets Ace Admits He Was Out ‘Past Curfew’ On Cinco De Mayo)
On Monday of last week, the Victoria’s Secret Angel was photographed at a Met Gala afterparty with Julian Edelman, who she previously dated before getting involved with Harvey. The two reportedly flirted throughout the night and seemed to be having a good time together, which really messed with the Mets pitcher’s head.
The photos caused Harvey to turn into an “emotional wreck,” according to the New York Post. The Mets were away playing Atlanta at the time where a “depressed Harvey” gave up six runs on the mound in just five innings. (RELATED: Model Behavior? Harvey’s teammates seem to believe that he was simply “blowing off steam and trying to get over Lima” on Friday, but got a little carried away, the New York Post reports.
