Chris Cornell’s Cause Of Death Revealed
A medical examiner has determined that Chris Cornell took his own life by hanging himself in his hotel room following a concert in Detroit.
The 52-year-old singer was staying at the MGM Grand in Detroit following a concert with Soundgarden, according to The Associated Press.
Cornell was found dead in his bathroom by a close friend late Wednesday night after Cornell’s wife called and asked him to check up on him.
Police initially reported that “basic things observed at the scene” led them to believe it was suicide, but it wasn’t confirmed until later Thursday afternoon.
Cornell was one of the most recognizable voices of the 1990s grunge rock movement. He served as the frontman for both Soundgarden and Audioslave over the course of his career in music.
Cornell’s representative Brian Bumbery said his death was “sudden and unexpected,” and his wife and family are completely shocked.
