Shaq On Trump 120 Days Into His Presidency: ‘We Need To Give Him A Shot’
NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal said in November that people needed to give President Donald Trump a “chance” after he won the election, and he is standing by those words 120 days into his presidency.
“We voted, so there’s no need to waste time complaining. The man ‘won,’ apparently fair and square, so we need to give him a shot,” the 45-year-old basketball legend said Thursdayat the Turner 2017 “Upfront” event. (VIDEO: Shaq: Quit Protesting Trump — ‘We Have To Give Him A Chance’)
Last November, he told The Hill that Trump won, so people needed to “give him a chance.”
“Now that he’s president-elect, you just hope that he can make the world a better place,” O’Neal explained. “He won fair and square. We have to give him a chance.”
Shaq was definitely in the minority at the event. Talk show host Samantha Bee said she plans to continue going “hard” after Trump.
“Is there such a thing as being too critical of this president?” Bee wondered. “No! I think it’s fair game. When someone is running the country, you have full license to take it as far as you want to. I just don’t believe that the office is so sacred. … I actually think it’s literally my patriotic duty to go as hard as humanly possibly on this president.”
