The Golden Age of Television reigns in Netflix’s newest series starring former Arrested Development anchor Jason Bateman. Coming this summer, Ozark follows the shady misadventures of a financial adviser-turned-money launderer in the vein of a Breaking Bad/Narcos crossover.
The trailer, set against the ominous Kanye West single “Wolves,” features Bateman’s character Marty Byrde navigating a dangerous Missouri underworld rife with arson, dirty money, vultures, and strip-clubs. Ozark joins the growing list of dramatic shows (Breaking Bad, Fargo, The Sopranos, The Wire) exploring the darker elements of the American psyche in economically-ravaged cities.
“Look around! This place is death!” shouts a chilling Laura Linney in the first trailer.
Bateman serves as the series’ executive producer and also directed four of the ten episodes. Additional cast members include Esai Morales, Julia Garner, Marc Menchaca, Jason Butler Harner, and Harris Yulin.
Ozark will launch globally on Netflix on July 21, 2017.
