Will Ryan Seacrest Back Out Of ‘American Idol’ Over Money?
Ryan Seacrest is having second thoughts about returning to host “American Idol” after he found out Katy Perry was offered a significant amount more to be a judge for the singing contest, a new report claims.
According to Page Six, Perry was offered a whopping $25 million, which she recently bragged about during a radio interview.
“I’m really proud that, as a woman, I got paid,” Perry said during the interview last week. “And you know why? I got paid, like, more than like pretty much any guy that’s been on that show.”
Seacrest was only offered $10 million, and insiders said he has now “grown notably cooler on the prospect” after finding out how much more Perry was offered than him.
“[He] was suddenly asking himself why he would come back for a 16th season at a salary [much smaller than that] of the newcomer judge,” Richard Rushfield, who wrote “American Idol: The Untold Story,” said.
A spokesman for ABC did not confirm or deny the story to Page Six.
“We don’t comment on negotiations or salary.”
