Disney announced Thursday that Ron Howard will be the new director of the Star Wars spinoff about Han Solo after a recent shakeup.

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from the project, which is already deep into filming, due to problems on the vision between the two of them, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Star Wars official Instagram account also published a photo of Howard breaking the news.

The announcement on Instagram read, “Lucasfilm is pleased to announce that Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard has been named director of the untitled Han Solo film.”

Howard is no stranger to directing or being a part of huge films. He has directed such films as “A Beautiful Mind, “The Da Vinci Code” and “Apollo 13.”

Bringing on such an experienced and successful director this late in the game means that things are probably going really badly, and only a veteran filmmaker could save the ship before it goes entirely under.
