Melania Trump shut down Mika Brzezinski’s attack on her after the MSNBC host said the first lady had “the worst job in the country” and was only doing it for their son, Barron Trump.

“It is sad when people try to further their own agenda by commenting on me and my family, especially when they don’t know me,” the first lady told the Daily Mail through her press office Friday night. (RELATED: Mika Brzezinski: Melania Trump Has ‘The Worst Job In The Country’)

Brzezinski’s remarks followed an interview the MSNBC host gave on Friday that turned from talking about her feud with the president to suggesting the first lady wasn’t “going to put up with it much longer.”

“I know Melania [Trump],” Brzezinski told InStyle magazine. “I haven’t talked to her in months, but if my gut is right, I don’t think she’s going to put up with it much longer.”

“I know nothing,” she added. “That’s just my instinct and I go with my gut and my gut’s always right. I’m just telling you, Melania’s got the worst job in the country and I don’t think she wants do it a lot longer. I think she will do it for as long as she has to for her son, and that’s it.”

Brzezinski and Scarborough responded to the president in a joint op-ed published in The Washington Post and in a segment on their morning show after Trump tweeted Thursday about how he refused to meet Brzezinski on New Year’s Eve because she was “bleeding badly from a face-lift.”
