Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward’s wife Robyn hit back at his critics Wednesday.
Hayward recently left the Utah Jazz to sign with the Boston Celtics, and not everybody was pleased with his decision to spurn his former team.
Robyn posted a photo of herself hugging Hayward, and added a caption that took a shot at those criticizing him for his decision.
She wrote the following:
I’m excited to go on this adventure with this man! It’s bittersweet leaving where we’ve called home and grown our family, but I’m excited to see where this path takes us! We are so grateful for everything Utah has done for us! Also, as for all the mean comments and threats. Don’t forget athletes are humans too. Treat others how you would like to be treated. It would never cross my mind to speak so negatively and so full of hate about oneself or their family.
It’s not very hard to understand why Hayward went to the Celtics. His former college coach Brad Stevens is currently their head coach, and there is plenty of talent on Boston’s roster.
The path through the playoffs is also considerably easier through the Eastern Conference than it is through the West. Signing for more than $125 million probably also doesn’t hurt.
