Detroit Lions Coach: Matthew Stafford Is ‘On The Rise’

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell made it clear he has full confidence in his quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Caldwell recently told the media the former University of Georgia gunslinger is “on the rise.”

The experts at the NFL Network were quick to agree with Caldwell’s assessment of his quarterback situation.

Stafford has arguably the strongest arm in the entire NFL, but having a cannon attached to his right shoulder hasn’t been enough so far in his career to overcome the lack of talent around him with the Lions.

However, even after losing his star wide receiver Calvin Johnson, he was still able to throw for more than 4,000 yards and he tacked on 24 touchdowns. If the Lions can put even a minimally consistent run-game behind Stafford then maybe they could become real contenders.
