Kid Rock seems to be teasing a run for the Senate, and this might be the closest America ever gets to getting a real life Kenny Powers into office.
The speculation began late Wednesday with a couple of tweets from Kid Rock that are clearly hyping something up. I have no idea if this is all a show or if he’s serious, but for the sake of the argument lets assume the rock star is serious.

For those of you who have either been living under a rock for the past decade or are a freedom-hating communist, Kenny Powers is the HBO character from “Eastbound and Down” that represents everything awesome about America.
Kenny Powers was a gunslinger on the mound just mowing down batters, and off the mound he was a living embodiment of the middle finger to all the haters and losers. What you might not know is that Kenny Powers and Kid Rock share a lot of similarities.
1) They both love America.
Kenny Powers is an unapologetic American patriot. Whether it’s reminding people that America is the best country in the world or going down to Mexico to spread some freedom, he never slows down when it comes to his love of freedom.
Kid Rock is also a big fan of the red, white and blue. In fact, he has several songs that embrace America and everything that is great about this country.
2) They both are big fans of firearms.
Kenny Powers is a strapped man, and he even had to use his weapon once in season two in order to shoot a home invader. Now, it turned out to just be his buddy Stevie, but the point is he didn’t hesitate.
Likewise, Rock is an admitted gun owner and even debated Piers Morgan on the subject.
3) They both rose to the top of their respective fields in spectacular fashion.
Kenny Powers is a World Series champion and a baseball legend. Sure, he had a fall from grace, but before long he was back and dominating the media world.
Kid Rock has had multiple top-10 albums and his music career is one of the most successful in the history of rock music.
4) They never hesitate to say whatever they’re thinking or feeling.
Kenny Powers was infamous for lacking any kind of filter on his mouth. The montages that can be found of him from “Eastbound and Down” will have you falling out of your chair laughing.
Rock’s music is all about doing whatever you want and giving the haters the middle bird if they don’t like it.
I don’t know about all of you guys but I couldn’t be more ready for a Kenny Powers, aka Kid Rock, run for the Senate. All Kid Rock needs to do now is address his critics on the campaign trail and shout, “You’re fucking out!” whenever he has to toss somebody from an event.
America needs this. America wants this.
