Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt took a not-so-subtle shot at Lavar Ball with the release announcement for his upcoming shoe.
“400 dollars less than some shoes on the market and 100% more effective. Available tonight at midnight for $99,” Watt tweeted late Thursday.

The “400 dollars less than some shoes on the market” line is a direct shot at shoes produced by Lavar for his son and Los Angeles Lakers forward Lonzo Ball, which retail for just under $500.
A tweet of this nature is questionable for one major reason — it looks like Watt is desperately trying to cling to the spotlight. The Ball family is the biggest and most entertaining family in sports at the moment. They’re moving the needle in a way rarely seen in the sports world.
JJ’s two younger brothers are both NFL players, but none of the Watt family is getting the attention Lonzo and Lavar Ball have gotten over the course of the past nine months. I hate to say it, but this is not a great look. However, those shoes do look pretty great.
