Big Ten Dominates First College Football Coaches Poll

David Hookstead | Reporter

The Big Ten has four teams in the top 10 of the first college football coaches poll of the year.

The poll was released Thursday, and did not contain many surprises for people who closely follow college football.

The top ten are:

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. Florida State
  4. USC
  5. Clemson
  6. Penn State
  7. Washington
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Michigan
  10. Wisconsin

It should be fun watching SEC fans rant and rave about how their conference isn’t getting enough love, but in reality the SEC has been living off of reputation for a couple years now.

Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin are all national title contenders. Having four top ten teams is the sign of dominating the rest of the country. The ACC also putting two teams in the top five is a pretty solid indication the conference will have a shot to win back-to-back national titles.

A great sign for fans of the Big Ten and ACC, and a really bad day for SEC fans around the country. Borderline pathetic to only have one team in the top 10.
