ESPN seems like it’ll never be happy with Johnny Manziel, no matter what the circumstances are.
Manziel recently spoke with Clay Travis of Outkick the Coverage about his plans after his football days are done, and indicated he’d be interested in coaching. Seems like a simple enough statement and idea for any athlete.
Don’t tell that to the fun police over at ESPN, though. They clearly aren’t impressed with Manziel being back in the news.
“[I] Continue to see immaturity from him. That’s the problem. I don’t think he realized what he had. It’s too bad. It really is because he had so much talent, so much ability,” ESPN pundit Todd Shay said Monday after Manziel’s comments to Travis at the International Football Betting Conference in Costa Rica.
Fellow ESPN pundit Paul Finebaum added, “Another bad move by Johnny Football.”

“Johnny Manziel cured cancer over the weekend, and once again we just see he’s not focused on football,” is a likely quote from any airhead ESPN host in the event Manziel actually eradicated the disease.
The hatred for Johnny Manziel is getting over the top. He is finally ready to return to football and people on ESPN are still letting the hate machine rage. Perhaps we should just sit back, enjoy the show and see if he can complete his comeback. It’ll be one of the best stories in sports if he can get it done.
