Green Beret and UFC fighter Tim Kennedy’s Instagram account represents everything that people love about America.

Kennedy has one of the most incredible American stories, not only as a member of an elite military unit, but as somebody who successfully managed to crack a few skulls as a fighter in the octagon.

However, for me, it’s his military background and his fierce display of patriotism that I find to be the most interesting.

His biography reads in part:

Tim Kennedy is an active, Ranger qualified, Green Beret, Special Forces Sniper with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as other locations around the globe.

He enlisted in 2003 under the 18X (Special Forces candidate) program. He attended basic training, AIT, and Airborne school at Fort Benning GA as an 11B (Infantry), before he continued Special Forces training at Fort Bragg North Carolina.

After being awarded his Green Beret in 2005 he was first assigned to 7th Special Forces Group(A), at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. where he served on an Operational Detachment Alpha. During his time in special forces he was deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was an honor graduate from Ranger school, and attended sniper school in addition to many other advanced special operation courses.

His Instagram photos are exactly what somebody would expect from a person this badass.

A lot of people ask me about SF selection. This is some of the advice I give them… Trying out for Special Forces was without a doubt the best decision I have ever made in my life. It changed not only me as a person, but also how I approach everything in my life from that point forward. It has been the most rewarding of a career. Army Special Forces/ #GreenBeret, #SEALS, #Rangers, #RECON, and many other special mission units follow a similar criteria when looking for operators. They want guys that aren’t good at losing. They want guys that understand teamwork. They want guys that will take the hard wrong over the easy right but aren’t fear full of cheating want to comes to a fight. You should be able to max out a PT test or at least get a max of 300. You should be able to run 5 miles in under 40 minutes. Your ruck time is where things get pretty tricky. You should feel comfortable walking with weight on your back for 8 hours, and should be able to walk 12 miles in under 3 hours. Here are the only words of wisdom. Be at the right place at the right time in the right uniform. When you don’t know what to do, take a knee face out, have a drink of water, and think about why you came to selection. Remember that you are ALWAYS being evaluated at everything you do. #freedom #usa #alwaysbeready #hellotrouble
