This Quarterback Deserves Another Shot

Robert Griffin III was drafted second overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft. He was awarded the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In 2013 he was asked to play in the Pro Bowl, although at the time could not participate because he was injured at the time.

During the time Griffin played for Baylor University, he won the Heisman Trophy in 2011, along with many other awards. He looked like he was on track to be one of the NFL greats and he had so many people on his side.

And yet heading into this fall’s NFL season, he still doesn’t have a team.

After having a couple good seasons with the Redskins, Griffin got a concussion during the 2015 preseason. Kirk Cousins took his place for the rest of the season and RGIII was eventually released by the Redskins. He was picked up by the Cleveland Browns and continued to have injuries during the 2016 season resulting in being dropped once again.

Griffin has been continuing to work out and stay in shape in the hope he will be picked up. It is actually surprising that the Miami Dolphins wanted Jay Cutler over Griffin. Cutler seems to believe that he doesn’t have to be in shape because he is a quarterback, and he now has the chance to show everyone how well that will work for him.

Griffin has 8,983 passing yards and 42 touchdowns in his NFL career. While these might not be the most impressive stats, he has the potential to make a comeback in the league. Griffin worked out for the Los Angeles Chargers, and according to ESPN, it went well for him, and now only time will whether or not he will get the chance he deserves.
